Role of Link Governors

HILLSIDE SCHOOLS’ GOVERNING BODY
 EXPECTATIONS OF LINK GOVERNORS

 

Link Governors for Curriculum Areas

  • An annual meeting with the Headteacher or subject co-ordinator to discuss standards and priorities in that area of the curriculum. (discussion re any data released available on that subject)
  • An annual visit to the school to look at learning in that subject. (preferably during the monitoring term) This would be done in conjunction with the Headteacher or subject co-ordinator.
  • A visit to the school during a theme week or special event relating to that subject.
  • Annual report/feedback to Governing Body on developments in that subject.

 
Special Educational Needs

  • Membership of Inclusion Committee
  • Annual meeting with Inclusion Manager to discuss provision for children with additional needs.
  • Annual visit to the school to look at examples of inclusive practice.  This would be done in conjunction with the Headteacher or Inclusion Manager.
  • Be prepared to be approached by parents of SEN pupils

 
Child Protection

  • An understanding of the school’s Child Protection procedures.
  • An understanding of Child Protection legislation.
  • An annual meeting with the Headteacher to discuss CP arrangements.
  • Being kept up to date numbers of  pupils being put on register

 
Safeguarding

  • An understanding of legislation and Ofsted requirements re safeguarding.
  • An annual visit to school to look at the Single Central Record
  • An annual meeting with the Headteacher/Facilities Manager re Health & Safety and site security.
  • Annual report/feedback to Governing Body on developments in that subject.
