Music

Music is a practical, engaging and creative subject that enables children to express themselves, build confidence, and develop a sense of enjoyment and belonging. Through listening, performing, creating and responding, children develop their musical understanding across a wide range of styles and genres.

We use the Kapow Music curriculum to support the delivery of high-quality music teaching, ensuring clear progression of skills and knowledge across the school.

Our music curriculum is built around key strands that develop children’s ability to perform, compose, listen and evaluate. Children are encouraged to use their voices and instruments expressively, explore musical ideas, and respond to a variety of music using appropriate musical language.

Music is further enriched through a range of wider experiences. Children take part in weekly singing assemblies, explore termly music themes, and have opportunities to perform in year group singing performances. In addition, children take part in a local Christmas performance, performing with other local schools for the community.
