  • Computing

We recognise that computing is an essential part of modern life. Our curriculum prepares children to participate in a rapidly changing digital world, where technology is used to explore, create, communicate, and solve problems. We aim to develop confident and responsible users of technology who can use it safely, creatively, and independently.

We use the Teach Computing curriculum to ensure clear progression of knowledge and skills across all year groups. This provides a structured and high-quality approach to teaching programming, data handling, and digital literacy.

Children have access to a range of technology, including iPads, Chromebooks, Bee-Bots, and interactive whiteboards, which support learning across the curriculum. They develop their understanding of programming through practical, hands-on experiences and learn how to collect, organise, and present data in different ways.

Online safety is a key priority throughout the school. Children are taught how to use technology safely and respectfully, how to keep personal information private, and how to recognise potential risks online.

Children also develop their skills in creating and presenting work using a range of digital tools, building confidence in using technology for a variety of purposes.

At Hillside, we want all our learners to become confident, responsible, and capable users of technology, well-prepared for the digital world.
