    Welcome to Year 2

    Autumn Term

In the Autumn term, Year 2 children embark on a London adventure, exploring present-day landmarks and the events of the Great Fire of London. Through hands-on historical activities, they investigate how people lived in the past and how London has changed. Children are encouraged to work as a team, try their best, and show kindness and honesty as they explore history and understand the impact of people and events on the world today.

    Spring Term

In the Spring term, Year 2 children explore the Amazon Rainforest, investigating its plants, animals, and ecosystems. They compare the rainforest to their local area and other places around the world, carrying out observations and practical investigations. This topic encourages teamwork, attentiveness, and perseverance, helping children develop scientific thinking and a respect for the natural environment.

    Summer Term

In the Summer term, Year 2 children explore exploration and engineering, learning about Captain Robert Scott and Matthew Henson. Through hands-on challenges, they investigate how exploration and engineering have shaped the modern world. Children are encouraged to try their best, work as a team, and show honesty and respect as they solve problems, experiment, and understand how ideas and inventions continue to impact our lives today.
